SEDIE DESIGN is a design studio based in Ono, Hyogo, Japan. We focus on understanding the relationships between people, objects, and everyday life. By carefully observing these connections, we extract their essence, reconstruct them into simple forms and structures, and bring them back into the context of human life and learning. This process defines our approach to design. When I first aspired to become a designer, I encountered the cheerful people of Italy — people who spoke openly and lived surrounded by chairs they had cherished for many years. Their way of enjoying everyday life, and the presence of chairs that quietly accompany it, became the origin of my design philosophy. Our name, “SEDIE,” meaning chairs in Italian, carries that spirit within it.
